I then picked up the remote and it was already connected. Other sockets are set in the floor). What I am working with: a Verizon broadband connection with a three year old Netgear wireless router. Maybe I ought to think about ordering a Slingbox also. I'm not sure when (if ever the wiring has been updated. I don't even have a slingbox.
I had also tried a wireless option but the number of wireless networks surrounding me started to interfere with my connection. Anyway, I connected one unit to the router and the other to the neuros OSD Media Center. I was looking for a way to connect a Neuros OSD Media Center (6011000)to my router. It looks pretty ancient-- the wall sockets are set in the six inch oak baseboards. Most recently I had it connectd with a long ethernet cord but I was a bit tired of worrying about the dogs deciding to eat it.
The house was build approximately 1912 with four floors.
My Dish reciever is downstairs in another section of my house. This may or may not work for you. So be aware of what you have plugged into other outlets as it might cause the whole thing to fail. The Slinglink Turbo works fairly well; however, if I plug anything else into certain outlets in my bonus room, the whole connection basically just fails. I've got it working in my house. I've got a Netgear router upstairs in my bonus room hooked up to a Charter Cable box.
It is on a seperate circuit then the router, but no issues, like other reviews say, I saw on their website that as long as it is on the same phase (power line from the road) you would not have an issue. It is on the far end of the house from the router, and it works great. My Network performance is as good as if I plugged it directly into the router. I was skeptical when I bought this, I have been working with computers and electronics for 10 years and I could not imagine that it would work. But I had a room that I need to make into an office, with no way of running network into it.
The only issue is you have to plug the network end into the router directly. Truly a "plug and play" device. Other than that, no problems what so ever. Going through a hub first won't work. I have an older sling box the was close to my router. After moving it to another room this device solved my wireing problems.
Set up was so easy, 5 minutes at most and I was able to hook up my Dish receiver to the internet to download movies, and it works flawlessly.
